Meta Tags are information inserted into the “head” section of a webpage to describe the webpage to a search engine.
They can be used to boost a website higher up “crawler” search engine results, and therefore increase traffic to the website.
The three most important meta tags from a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) perspective are Content-Type, description and title tags. They look like this:
